Skeptic Bible Study: Gospel Lies
http://www.godvsthebible.com
Matthew, or whoever wrote that book, is a liar.
That’s all that need be said. His so called “prophecies” are either nothing of the sort or were misquotes of OT scripture. Whoever wrote Matthew either knew or should have known better!
Mark and Luke are not eye-witnesses and John’s advanced theology and inconsistencies with the synoptic Gospels mean that the entire Jesus story is without one credible eye-witness account.

At least I don’t base it off a Digimon.

Well there are …
Well there are several scriptures that have double meanings. I cannot argue the validity of the hebrew derivative, as i haven’t really attempted to study the Bible to such an extent, there are several verses that are prophecies although they are, at the moment of the dialouge, reffering to an occuring event.

Right because the opinion of the man who bases his username on a pokemon is sooo valuable. Haha I’m just joking man it was just an observation.

Well in the …
Well in the Christian community many people believe themselves to be Christian just because they repeat the sinner’s prayer, or because they follow the commandments. The amount of scripture they know isn’t really relevant in the amount of their faith, but true faith should give you a hunger to dive into the Word of God.

That’s largely a …
That’s largely a catholic belief I don’t know the context of the conversation but generally “Christian” Catholics, and I use the term “Christian” VERY loosely as they acknowledge that Jesus Christ is savior and many parts of their faith are not biblical, believe that only preists and clergy ( I don’t really know the beuraeucracy) are the only ones really capable of interpreting the bible.

My credentials?
I’m some guy who smells bullcrap and says so. If there’s any other requirement to offer such commentary, I’ve never heard of it.
Now if it’s not bullcrap, feel free to defend it. Evidence and logical arguments preferred.

I definitly will not partake in this clownshow you call a “debate.” Call me patronizing, call me pompous, quite frankly I can care less. With that said, if you’d be so kind as to show me your credintals. I’d be happy to refute ever single claim your big head can dream up.
BTW im just messing with you guys i’m in computer class bored. Just ignore me or block me or something.

Haha. That reminds me of some creationist demotivational poster. Oh, DeistPaladin, have you seen the videos of Jesus camp on here. This one video killed me. This lady told the kids if Harry Potter lived in biblical times he would have been put to DEATH! I am now a firm believer that some Christians REALLY can’t tell reality from fantasy.

I once dated a …
I once dated a Christian girl and took her to see “Jesus Christ Superstar”. I had to explain to HER about the life of Jesus and specific highlights. For example, she had no idea Pilate was so reluctant to crucify Jesus and did so only because of Jewish pressure. This is her supposed “lord and savior” and she knew next to nothing about his life.

You have a point …
You have a point there. I asked a friend of mine what he believes in (Like um… what’s the ‘core’ of his faith) and he couldn’t answer me. And he didn’t believe me at first when I told him God has let some of the most horrible acts happen in his ‘good and holy’ book.

I do wonder how …
I do wonder how many self identified “Christians” even understand the fundamental aspects of their faith, never mind how many have read the Bible (or even the Gospels)? How many of them label themselves that way simply because their family is or because attending church is a social activity?
November 27th, 2009 at 11:02 am
Well to be honest …
Well to be honest with you many “christians” today claim to be so but have no hunger for His Word or even for Him. 65 to 70% of Americans consider themselves to be Christians. So you can ask a Christian, but it’s hard to say who really is one so…

Matthew probably …
Matthew probably got the virgin translation of Isaiah from a greek translation, where the hebrew was mistranslated virgin. The also got the tense wrong. If I understand the hebrew right, the conception is present tense, the birth future tense, so it refers to a woman already pregnant. So I wouldn’t say it’s a lie, just an error.
