Me and my mom are having Bible study discussing the gospel of Matthew…Does anybody have any tips?
Usually what I do is i have a notebook of stuff that I want to talk about and just wanted to see how every body else does Bible Study and how they keep the conversation up throughout.
Oh, yes, indeed I do.

I think it is great! One thing that I found is a Bible translation book that allows me to better understand what is being said. Things make so much more sense to me now. And I enjoy reading the Bible because before I read it and it wasn’t clicking and things got overwhelmed for me. Good luck and have fun with your mom

Explain how this Jesus quote means that he is so loving and peaceful:
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Once you have read one book of gospel, you have basically read them all.
Try having a discussion on Genesis 34 tomorrow, I have read this passage back when I was about 10 years old, it is so inspiring.

the conversation generally drags as you can only discuss a single document so many times before intellectual boredom sets in.

Look for a book or website with Gospel Parallels. That way you can study the differences and similarities between Matthew and the other Gospels (especially Mark and Luke.) It gets really interesting when you get to the crucifixion.

1. take notes
2. use the references(if your bible has them, they tell more bout what your reading)
3. use KJV and a international(international makes some passages easier to understand)

I personally like using a NIV Life Application Study Bible. This Bible will provide you with a lot of insight into what you are reading. It makes it easier to understand some of the history, characters, themes, etc. of the book you are reading. In addition, look for study guides that focus on Matthew. They usually have thought provoking questions that you could review as you are trying to learn.
