Larry Norman | Only Visiting This Planet (1947 – 2008)
A tribute to my favorite artist, who has inspired me greatly over the years. He passed early Sunday morning, Feb. 24.
Larry Norman was the first man to combine modern rock music with his Christian Beliefs. Though commonplace now, this took alot of guts in the late-60s.
Since the early 90s, he suffered continual heart problems, until he became far too weak to tour. He died at the relatively young age of 60.
This video is a sort of ‘reader’s digest’ version of his career, covering just some of my personal favorite tunes throughout his lifetime.

“Larry Norman was …
“Larry Norman was the first man to combine modern rock music with his Christian beliefs.”
Not entirely true. Mylon Lefevre and Agape were doing this before Larry and actually influenced him.
He certainly was the first LEADER in this though . . .

I’ve enjoyed …
I’ve enjoyed Larry’s music for decades. But I am sad by the “churchianity” treatment around the fact that, after helping launch Randy Stonehill’s career, Randy’s wife divorced him after falling in love and then “marrying” Larry. Where was the light of truthful treatment, of “Jesus People” honesty? And what are the future ripple effects in terms of legacy and witness to others? Nevertheless, what a gifted artist.

God loved the world …
God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal
life.God sent his Son into the world, not to? condemn the world, but to save the worldThose who believe in him won’t be
condemned. But those who don’t believe are already condemned because they don’t believe in God’s only son. This is why people
are condemned: The light came into the world. Yet people loved the dark rather than the light because their actions were evil
