How did Lucifer fall from grace according to Christian belief?

Posted on October 12th, 2009 by admin in Christian Belief | 19 Comments »

I want to know how Lucifer got banished to hell… Never knew it was different from the Muslim belief.

He fell because of pride that originated from his desire to be God instead of a servant of God. Satan was the highest of all the angels, but he wasn’t happy. He desired to be God and rule the universe. God cast Satan out of heaven as a fallen angel.

Here is a good link to read about him.

Lucifer decided that he didn’t want to serve God any more and would like to rule. God cast him out and, as God was ruler of Heaven and Earth, Lucifer took over Hell

There is nothing in the bible about it. Jews have the original translation of the Old Testament and Lucifer is not even mentioned in it once.

Satan is not in hell…he is in the earth according to the bible….

Revelation 12:9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.

SATAN WAS NOT an ARCHANGEL, …..but a Cherubim ….a lower rank than THE ARCHANGEL…there is only ONE…MICHAEL

Ezekiel 28:12-15 “You are sealing up a pattern, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

13 In E?den, the garden of God, you proved to be. Every precious stone was your covering, ruby, topaz and jasper; chrys?o·lite, onyx and jade; sapphire, turquoise and emerald; and of gold was the workmanship of your settings and your sockets in you. In the day of your being created they were made ready.

14 You are the anointed cherub that is covering, and I have set you. On the holy mountain of God you proved to be. In the midst of fiery stones you walked about. 15 You were faultless in your ways from the day of your being created until unrighteousness was found in you.

There was war in Heaven and Satan and the evil angels were cast down to this world.

Pride, He was very beautiful. Probably the Most Beautiful of God’s creation. But he was also very prideful. He finally came to the point that he thought he was above God.

According to Christian belief, Lucifer/Satan was an archangel, a superior angel whose job was to worship God. He became jealous and wanted to become like God so he revolted. Because of this, God banished him from heaven with his followers who became what Christians call demons.

he tried to overthrow God. Deceived a third of the angels in the process. God allowed him to proceed with his plans to a certain degree then was forced to banish him from Heaven. God did not destroy Lucifer at that point because then the deception that Lucifer portrayed against God would have seemed correct. Instead God is allowing time to expose the fallacies in Lucifers ideas and deceptions. In the end all of creation will be able to say, "yes you and you alone are God and your ways are the best ways"…in a nut shell.

Satan was a spirit creature who rebelled against God. The scriptures do not say that he was banished to hell but that he was thrown out of heaven onto the earth REV 12:9 The outcome is woe for the earth. Jesus Christ referred to him as being “the ruler of the world,” the one whom mankind in general obeys by heeding his urgings to ignore God’s requirements. (John 14:30; Eph. 2:2) The Bible also calls him “the god of this system of things,” who is honored by the religious practices of people who adhere to this system of things.—2 Cor. 4:4; 1 Cor. 10:20.

The name Lucifer occurs once in the Scriptures and only in some versions of the Bible. For example, the King James Version renders Isaiah 14:12: “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!”

The Hebrew word translated “Lucifer” means “shining one.” The Septuagint uses the Greek word that means “bringer of dawn.” Hence, some translations render the original Hebrew “morning star” or “Daystar.” But Jerome’s Latin Vulgate uses “Lucifer” (light bearer), and this accounts for the appearance of that term in various versions of the Bible.

Who is this Lucifer? The expression “shining one,” or “Lucifer,” is found in what Isaiah prophetically commanded the Israelites to pronounce as a “proverbial saying against the king of Babylon.” Thus, it is part of a saying primarily directed at the Babylonian dynasty. That the description “shining one” is given to a man and not to a spirit creature is further seen by the statement: “Down to Sheol you will be brought.” Sheol is the common grave of mankind—not a place occupied by Satan the Devil. Moreover, those seeing Lucifer brought into this condition ask: “Is this the man that was agitating the earth?” Clearly, “Lucifer” refers to a human, not to a spirit creature.
