How do you lead a dynamite bible study?

Posted on November 30th, 2009 by admin in Bible Study | 8 Comments »

I’m going to be the Spiritual Life Assistant on my hall at college next year. As part of that, I will lead a Bible Study once a week for all of the other girls. First semester usually goes really well, but by second semester, people become busy and stressed out, and just stop coming to bible study all together.

Do you have any ideas of how I can make a bible study more attractive and super productive so that college students will come, even when they are overloaded and stressed out?

Teach the Bible chapter by chapter.

For instance, start in the Book of Romans. Teach one chapter at a time, all the verses. When you’re done with Romans, go on to the next Book, 1 Corinthians, and so on

Here’s a website that teaches the meaning of every verse of every Book in the Bible: http://www.soniclight.com/constable/notes.htm

You can use that to help you :)

How will Jesus Christ come like a thief in the night to surprise all of use with his sudden return?

Posted on November 30th, 2009 by admin in Jesus Christ | 15 Comments »

I live in Chicago and it is 3:11 A.M now and I feel like baby Jesus can come at any moment and if that was to happen what things will I hear? I am in the basement and how will I Jesus Christ returned if I can’t see anything that is happening out side,we have glass block windows and it would be hard to see.

Because the second coming is going to be in the consciousness of mankind not some physical being coming to save our ass.The mind that was in Christ Jesus, Jesus told us to look within for the presence of God, be=cause at about age 28 he found the Christ Spirit within himself and then tried to tell us how we too could do the same and even more..So far most Christian prefer to believe that he died for our sins and they ar ejust waiting and don’t really have to do mush more. How ever the second coming isn’t going to happen until we (Mankind) get it through our thick skulls that we must start working with those principles that he gave us. To actually forgive seventy times seven, by loving God with all our Heart and soul, and even our enemies, The human mind can not understand some of this , but with spiritual discernment it can be and is being revealed to the human race right now. God has planted the Christ spirit as a seed in all of us ,Jesus found it and told us we could do the same and even more.Great Question and Bless you I salute the Christ within you….Skipper

How did the christian belief that gods kingdom is open to everyone influence domestic thought?

Posted on November 30th, 2009 by admin in Christian Belief | 1 Comment »

yeah…please i need somebody to answer this because i have a test tomorrow at school and i dont have this in my notes.

I would suggest that it had an egalitarian effect. If God’s kingdom is open to everyone, that means that everyone is equal in the eyes of God, at least in so far as entering the "kingdom" is concerned. So women have an equal status to men, slaves an equal status to masters, the governors an equal status to the governed, etc. It also means that conquerors have an equal status to the conquered, the rich have an equal status to the poor, etc. So it doesn’t do away with social status issues, nor does it cancel inequality in society. But it would have the effect of diminishing or moderating such distinctions. By contrast, consider religions where there is the component of being part of God’s "chosen" group. That suggests not only that such distinctions should exist, but that there is no reason to diminish them or to moderate them. So the Chosen are favoured by God and those that are not chosen are lost and have no value to God. If that is true, there is no grounds to behave moderately and people who are not chosen can be maltreated.

The Christian faith says all humans are equal, and yet Jesus Christ is considered superior, for he is Gods son?

The Christian Faith says all humans are equal, and yet Jesus Christ is considered superior, for he is Gods son?

There is only one God and His Name is Jesus. The doctrine of the trinity was created at the Council of Nicea in 325 AD upon the order of Emperor Constantine. Prior to that all Christians were baptized in Jesus Name. No where in the Bible is the term trinity ever used.

Matthew 28:19 states, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the NAME of the FATHER, and of the SON, and the HOLY GHOST." Here is further proof of mankind being made in HIS LIKENESS. The very thing that separates each of us from one another is our name, (we may all look differently from each other, but the identifying factor is the name), just as THE NAME separates us from all others. You can no more separate the Father from the Son, or Holy Ghost, that you can separate the body, soul, or spirit. Just as I am a mother, daughter and a wife so it is with the Godhead. Jesus Christ is the Father in creation, the Son in Redemption and the Holy Spirit in Regeneration, one God who manifests Himself in three different ways or titles of office.

The Shema – "Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God is one LORD." This statement marks the declaration that God is One. Interestingly, the word echad in Hebrew can imply a unity in diversity (the word for one and only one, i.e., unique.

Is 9:6 "For unto us a child is born unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

John 1:1-5,14 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him: and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light* shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. (14:)And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us……..

1 Tim 3:16, "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory."

Ephesians 4:5 tells us, "One Lord, one faith, one baptism" therefore we must sincerely seek to find what is God’s only plan of salvation.

Colossians 3:17, "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."

James 2:19 "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble."

John 20:27-28, 27 Then he (Jesus) said to Thomas, "Reach here your finger, and see my hands. Reach here your hand, and put it into my side. Don’t be faithless, but believing."
28 Thomas answered him, "My Lord, and my God!"

As man, in His humanity) he suffered, bled and died on the cross. As God He came forth the third day.

How does my daugher start an a bible study at her school?

Posted on November 29th, 2009 by admin in Bible Study | 4 Comments »

I have a 13 year old daugher, 8th grader. She wants to start a Bible Study at her school. How should she proceed? Any suggestions on material?

The easiest way is to avoid asking the Administration at all costs. Do it in the library, or another public place where they don’t have to have permission. If you ask the principal, it puts them in a very delicate legal position…with the whole separation of church and state and all. As anyone in the education system will tell you…it’s always easier to ask forgiveness later than permission now.

Go to the library and look in their computerized catalog. Type in the words "teen bible studies" in the search engine. It should direct you to a whole list of books.

You might also ask the youth pastor at your church for suggestions.

Good luck!

What event caused more violence and murder than Jesus Christ’s legacy?

Posted on November 29th, 2009 by admin in Jesus Christ | 7 Comments »

The belief in Jesus Christ and his legacy has caused violence and conflict for nearly 2000 years. Religious wars in the 17 and 18th century, the christian crusades….etc.(My knowledge in history is limited,). Does anyone know the estimated death toll, and is there another individual in history that ultimately brought about the number of death as Jesus Christ?(My guess would be maybe muhammad).

Notice I didnt say that Jesus directly cause the violence, but that it was his legacy he left behind that caused it through his followers.
Starlight: You need a casualty number for Jesus’s legacy before saying that its less than 6-10 million.

It is not religions that cause violence and killing. The greatest mass murderers of the 20th century were the secular Adolph Hitler, and the anti-religion Joseph Stalin. It is the evil part in human nature. Sometime in the name of religion, nationalism, ethnicity, …, etc. Usually it’s when people feel threatened in their life or Identity.
